The next two weekends, the coastal town will receive tourists and athletes for the event, which also features concerts, crafts and regional food
After the village of Povoacao, in Linhares (ES), the waves of Pontal do Ipiranga are the next destination to transform into the stage of the 2019 Triple Crown of Wave Break Surfing Circuit. On August 10th and 11th, amateurs in the categories Regional, Open, Master, Gromets (up to 12 years), Junior (under-17) and Kahuna (over 45) will compete, followed by the professional category from the 16th to 18th.
In addition to the competition, the festival includes shows, crafts, food and drinks typical of the region and is not only an important step for the resumption of sport activities in the region, but also for tourism and the local economy.
The circuit is organized by the Linhares Surfing Association (ASL), for the second consecutive year in partnership with the Renova Foundation and with the support of Linhares Municipal Office, State Government and Tamar Project. In addition, the event is approved by the Brazilian Professional Surfing Association (Abrasp) and the Espirito Santo Surfing Federation (Fesurf).
Analyst of Renova’s Program for Supporting Tourism, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Regiane Assis, highlights the importance of the partnership in the event’s second year. “The partnership is fundamental, both for the promotion of sport, which has great potential for development in the region, and for the resumption of tourism in the Doce River mouth region, with income generation and opportunities for the entire community”, she says.
Apart from surfing, other attractions will attract people to Pontal do Ipiranga in the coming weekends. There will be concerts by the Jham I Can Band on Saturday (08/10), Plaxtico and 80’s Rock Band on Friday (08/16) and Pretopires and Sheep & Parafina perform on Saturday (08/17).
The event has three rounds, spread over two weekends in each community. The first round of the circuit was held in Povoacao on June 8 and 9 for the amateur categories and from June 14 to 16 for the professionals. The round in Regencia will be held in October.
Weekly collection of water samples by the Municipality of Linhares to analyze the bathing water quality of the beaches of Povoacao, Regencia and Pontal do Ipiranga, according to parameters established by the National Environment Council (Conama).
The municipality installed 12 bathing water quality signs, indicating 4 points in Pontal do Ipiranga, 3 points in Regencia and 1 point in Povoacao.
