Event promotes cultural activities and workshops for children and teenagers
The “Summer Connection” event in Mariana (MG) has started and includes various cultural activities and workshops for children and teenagers and will run until January 29. On the 22nd the program will take place in the municipality of Barra Longa (MG). The objective of the action is to provide local residents with fun and artistic cultural skills and knowledge.
The activities and workshops will be divided into three modules: elementary school children aged 7 to 11; teenagers aged 12 to 17 and integrated age groups, which will feature activities in open spaces and are for the general public. The activities do not only feature fun summer break activities and games for the participants, but also promote heritage education within the concept “information and preservation”. The initiative is a partnership between the municipalities of Mariana and Barra Longa, SESI Mariana and the Renova Foundation.
ACTIVITIES AND WORKSHOPS
One of the attractions for children will be called “Adventures in Mariana”, which will take them on a tour around different places in town, where they will learn fun facts about the municipality of Mariana, told by storytellers. “Playing with Art & Craft” are archaeological activities, physical activities and games to promote the integration and cooperation of children. The toys used will be produced from recyclable materials.
For teenagers there will be “Go Mariana!” an activity that will show them the town from up close, identifying social and cultural facilities available, their respective offers and mediators. Workshops like pinhole camera from a soup can, audio lab, circus, capoeira, dance and rap productions will also be some of the activities organized for the youth.

Schedule: 1pm to 5pm
Number of spots workshops SESI: 40 spots
Each participant can choose one workshop which lasts 5 consecutive days.
Number of spots workshop CRIA: 240 spots
Each participant can enroll for all the workshops and schedules of his/her choice, provided that the schedules don’t overlap.
Special/itinerant activities: all participants can join “Go Mariana!” which will take place in the morning, every day with a different class, offering 75 spots in total.
