THE RENOVA FOUNDATION IS BORN

Start of the activities of the Renova Foundation, a non-governmental organization set up to repair the damages caused by the collapse of the Fundão dam. Renova, a private and non-profit entity, was established in March 2016 by means of a Transaction and Conduct Adjustment Term (TTAC) signed by Samarco and its parent companies, Vale and BHP Billiton, with the federal and state governments of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, as well as a number of authorities, foundations and institutes such as Ibama, the Chico Mendes Institute, the National Water Agency, the State Forestry Institute, Funai, Environmental Departments, the State Water Management Institute of Minas Gerais (IGAM), the State Environmental Foundation (FEAM), the State Institute for Environment and Water Resources (IEMA), the Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing and Forestry Protection Institute of Espírito Santo (IDAF) and the State Agency for Water Resources (AGERH).
