Álvaro Pereira, program leader, spoke about the work for the resettlement of the communities of Bento Rodrigues, Paracatu de Baixo and Gesteira
The topic of the second live chat session of the Renova Foundation was the “Reconstruction of Villages”, broadcasted through YouTube. This afternoon, April 27, Álvaro Pereira, the institution’s program leader clarified information and answered questions from netizens on the work developed in Bento Rodrigues, Paracatu de Baixo and Gesteira, in Minas Gerais.
The locations for the reconstruction of the three districts have been chosen together with the community. During the conversation, Álvaro Pereira explained that the first aspect taken into account was the survey of household expectations. One of the major concerns was to maintain the relations between the neighborhoods and the old district format.
Taking the community comments as a starting point, different areas were chosen to carry out technical feasibility studies, such as relief characteristics, topography, water quality and quantity. The options of land were presented in an assembly and, through a voting process, the families selected where the new districts shall be rebuilt.
The next step is the definition of the urban projects, a phase that has been completed in the case of Bento Rodrigues. The idea is that the families also approve this project, which consists of the main characteristics of the new district, such as the arrangement of houses, the construction of squares and the location of green areas. After the approval, the construction methodology of the architectural projects will be organized.
The chat session was broadcasted through the Renova Foundation YouTube channel and is part of a series of conversations on different topics related to the work managed by the institution. Every last Thursday of the month a professional of Renova or a market specialist will share their experiences and clarify doubts in a live broadcast.
