This Wednesday, the application for the environmental licensing for the resettlement of Bento Rodrigues, on the site of Lavoura, was submitted to the Priority Projects Office (Suppri) of the State Department of Environment and Sustainable Development (Semad).
For the issuance of the environmental license, the technical and legal analysis by Suppri will be necessary. In addition, prior consent is needed from the Secretariat of Towns and Regional Integration (Secir) regarding the land subdivision.
After obtaining the environmental license, as well as the approval for the subdivision and the issuance of the permit by the Municipality of Mariana, it will be possible to start the infrastructure works for the new district such as paving, drainage, sewage networks, water and energy distribution.
The installation of the construction site is underway since May 11 and began shortly after the approval by the Priority Projects Office and authorization by the Municipal Construction Department of Mariana. Offices and support structures of the companies will occupy an area of approximately 10 thousand m2 (107,639.1 sq. ft) and will speed up the construction of the district, once the environmental licensing is in place.
With the participation and involvement of the families of Bento Rodrigues, the town’s urban project was approved on February 8 with 99.4% of the votes in favor. The design, definition of size and borders, as well as the distribution of streets and blocks, were made based on proposals presented by the Renova Foundation and widely discussed with all parties involved.
The new district should preserve, to the highest extent, the original characteristics and the patrimonial, urbanistic and cultural aspects of Bento Rodrigues, especially the neighborhood relations. According to plans, the resettlement will occupy an area of approximately 98 hectares (242.16 acres).
