With a length of 35 kilometers, the construction will have an investment of approximately R$ 155 million and generate 770 jobs

The Municipality of Governador Valadares and the Renova Foundation announced, on October 20, the implementation of a water pipeline in the Corrente Grande River, located on the border between the municipalities of Periquito and Valadares, in Minas Gerais. With a length of 35 kilometers, the construction will have an investment of approximately R$ 155 million and generate 770 jobs (direct and indirect).

The Corrente Grande River was chosen because of the low impact that the installation of the pipeline will cause to the community, since it will be in the area of the Vitória-Minas railroad. In addition, research done for the implementation showed that the river has the best source.

The water coming from the pipeline will reach the Santa Rita, Vila Isa and Central Water Treatment Plants. The maintenance and operation of the pipeline will be the responsibility of the town of Valadares, through SAAE. The structure is a commitment taken on by the Renova Foundation as a reparation and compensation measure for the Governador Valadares region.

The deadline for the completion of the construction is the first half of 2021. However, all the efforts of the Foundation are aimed at optimizing the deadlines of the construction works. The deadlines depend on other studies that are being developed in the executive project, as well as the licensing and authorization stages, foreseen in such works (DNIT, Cemig, Infraero, environmental agencies, among others).
