The first step of a resettlement plan is to raise as much information as possible by consulting the affected families on criteria that should be considered in the mapping of potential areas that could receive the community. Characteristics such as soil quality for planting and livestock farming, supply and quality of water, ease of access and proximity to the Estrada Royal route are some examples. It is time to register and understand how the population lived, what each person possessed in terms of patrimony and property and to collect information on the immaterial damages suffered, such as the concern to maintain the cultural identity, habits and traditions.
